"남한 정부의 노무현 대통령은 일본에게 사과할 것과 지난 세기에 한반도를 식민지화한 것에 대한 배상을 하는 문제에 대해서 고려중이다"
"일본은 2차 세계대전 전후 자신들의 행위에 대해서 유감을 표명해 왔었지만, 노 대통령은 일본이 공식사과를 해야 한다고 말했다" 그리고 "남한과 일본은 좋은 이웃으로 다시 태어나야 한다고 말했다."
일본은 독일의 사례를 좇아 법적인 문제이기 이전에 보다 적극적인 태로를 일본은 취해야 하며 이것이 인간사회에서의 보편적 윤리이며 이웃나라들 간의 신임의 문제라고 강조했다는 것이다.
이 뉴스는 최근 서울에서 공개된 한일협정문서에 대해서도 언급하고 이로 인해서 남한 국민들의 여론을 확대시키고 있다고 보도했다.
아울러 한일 양국간의 화해노력을 다룰 때마다 따라다니는 두개의 중대한 이슈가 있는데, 그 하나는 전쟁 전후 군위안부 문제와 다른 하나는 국경분쟁 문제가 그것이다. 지난 주 동해상에 있는 독도(일본명칭, 다케시마)는 "역사적으로 법적으로 일본에 속한다"고 발언한 주한 일본대사의 발언후 (한국인들의) 노여움을 불태우고 있다는 것이다.

But newly released details of those treaties have only enraged South Korean public opinion further. In January, Seoul declassified documents revealing that South Korea's post-war government agreed to accept an $800m economic package as reparations from Japan when the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1965. Island dispute Two other issues continue to dog reconciliation efforts. Groups of South Korean women are still seeking compensation from Japan for being forced to work in Japanese brothels before and during the war, and disputed territory is also a sensitive issue. Anger flared after Japanese ambassador to Seoul, Toshiyuki Takano, said last week that the Dokdo islets in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) - known as Takeshima in Japan - "historically and legally" belong to Japan. Despite the historic sores, relations have slowly been improving between the two nations in recent years. In 2002, South Korea and Japan jointly hosted the World Cup, and cultural ties are also increasing - a South Korean soap opera called The Winter Sonata has many avid fans in Japan.
